Gap Analysis & Pre-Audit Reviews
Know where you stand before an auditor does
The most stressful audits are the ones where a provider does not know what will be found. A gap analysis and pre-audit review removes that uncertainty. Compliance Care assesses your organisation against the NDIS Practice Standards that apply to your registration groups, identifies where practice or evidence falls short, and gives you a clear, prioritised plan to close each gap — with time to act before the audit that counts.
What a gap analysis examines
We look beyond whether a document exists to whether it is current, understood, and actually followed. That means testing your policies against your practice, and your practice against the standard.
- Policies and procedures — coverage, currency, and alignment to the standards for your registration groups.
- Records and evidence — participant records, consent, incident and complaint registers, risk assessments, and continuous improvement.
- Workforce — screening, qualifications, supervision, and whether staff can evidence the practice your policies describe.
- Governance — roles, oversight, risk management, and how you identify and act on problems.
What you receive
A prioritised gap register
Every gap, rated by risk and mapped to the specific standard it relates to, so you know what to fix first and why it matters.
Practical, actionable recommendations
Clear steps to close each gap — not generic advice, but actions matched to your organisation, your registration groups, and the time you have.
A readiness picture
An honest view of where you are strong and where you are exposed, so leadership can make informed decisions before committing to the audit.
How the review works
- Scope. We confirm your registration groups, sites, and the standards in play.
- Assess. We review documents and evidence and, where useful, test practice through interviews and record sampling.
- Report. You receive the prioritised gap register and recommendations.
- Act. We can support remediation directly, or hand a clear plan to your team.
Where a gap analysis leads next
Findings usually point to focused work: strengthening policies, tidying documentation, building risk management, or lifting staff capability through compliance training. When the gaps are closed, our audit preparation services take you the rest of the way to audit day.
Frequently asked questions
What is a gap analysis for NDIS providers?
A structured review of your policies, procedures, records, and practice against the NDIS Practice Standards to find where you do not yet meet a requirement — or cannot evidence that you do. It produces a prioritised list of gaps and the actions needed to close them before an audit.
How is a pre-audit review different from the certification audit?
A pre-audit review is an internal readiness check you commission to prepare, and carries no regulatory status. The certification or verification audit is conducted by an independent approved quality auditor and determines your registration outcome. A pre-audit review helps you find and fix issues first; it cannot change how the real audit is scored.
When should we do a gap analysis?
Before your first registration audit, well ahead of a renewal or mid-term audit, after a significant change such as adding a registration group or new sites, and following any incident or non-conformity — always leaving enough time to act on the findings.
