The New NDIS Commission Portal: What Providers Need to Do

28 October 2026 · 4 min read · Gaurav Nirwani

Two portals since 12 October 2026

On 12 October 2026 the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission moved providers onto a new NDIS Commission Portal. The old portal has not gone away yet, and which one you use depends on what you are doing and when you started it. Getting it wrong is mostly an annoyance, but two cases cost real time: a draft application that no longer exists, and a staff member who can see one portal and not the other.

This guide summarises the Commission's own guidance on its Apply for registration, registered providers portal and re-registration pages. Check those pages before acting: the Commission is still updating them and lists known problems on a current portal issues page.

Which portal to use

  • Starting a new registration application: the new NDIS Commission Portal.
  • An application you submitted before 12 October: finish it in the old portal. That includes checking its progress or withdrawing it.
  • A draft you never submitted in the old portal: drafts were removed on 12 October. Start again in the new portal.
  • Re-registration: every re-registration application now starts in the new portal. One started or submitted in the old portal before 12 October is not affected.
  • Day-to-day registration tasks such as updating outlets or key personnel and notifying incidents: the new portal.

Sign-in: myID and RAM only

PRODA was removed from the Commission's portals on 30 September 2026. Access is now through myID and the Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM), which links a person's myID to your business. Each person who uses the portal needs their own myID; shared logins are not an option. If your business had nobody set up in RAM by then, sort that first, because nothing else in the portal works without it.

If a consultant helps you, they should be given access through RAM as an authorised person. They should never create a myID in your name or sign in as you.

Staff access is now kept in two places

Everyone with an active account in the old portal was given one in the new portal, so you do not need to set people up again. After 12 October, though, the two portals manage staff access separately. If you add a user, or remove someone who has left, you must do it in both portals.

The second half of that matters most. A former employee who still has access to the old portal is a privacy and governance gap, and access control is something the Practice Standards expect you to manage. Add both portals to your staff offboarding checklist.

Incident notifications

Reportable incidents are notified in the new portal. The timeframes have not changed: most reportable incidents still need to be notified within 24 hours of key personnel becoming aware of them. Make sure the people who lodge incidents, including after-hours on-call staff, can sign in to the new portal before they need to. Finding out during an incident that someone's myID is not linked in RAM is how a 24-hour notification goes late. Our guide to getting reportable incidents right covers the rest of the process.

A short checklist

  1. Confirm who in your business is set up in RAM, and who is authorised to act for you.
  2. Check every person who lodges incidents or updates your registration can sign in to the new portal with their own myID.
  3. List any application you submitted before 12 October and keep tracking it in the old portal.
  4. If you had an unsubmitted draft, start it again in the new portal. If you are a SIL provider, read where you stand after the 1 October cut-off first.
  5. Add both portals to your staff onboarding and offboarding steps.
  6. If your registration expires within six months, start re-registration in the new portal.

Where we help

A portal change does not change what the application asks for: a self-assessment against the Practice Standards, backed by evidence. Our registration services page walks through the full process, and the SIL registration checklist lists the evidence for a SIL application.

Common questions

When did the new NDIS Commission Portal start?

On 12 October 2026. New registration applications, all re-registration applications and day-to-day tasks such as key personnel updates and incident notifications use the new NDIS Commission Portal.

What happened to applications in the old portal?

Applications submitted before 12 October 2026 are finished in the old portal, including checking progress or withdrawing. Unsubmitted draft applications in the old portal were removed on 12 October and must be started again in the new portal.

Can I still log in to the NDIS Commission portal with PRODA?

No. PRODA was removed from the Commission's portals on 30 September 2026. Sign-in is by myID, linked to your business through the Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM).

Do I need to set up staff again in the new portal?

No. Everyone with an active account in the old portal was given one in the new portal. After 12 October, staff access is managed separately, so users must be added or removed in both portals.
